I Became the Omega in a Game - Chapter 38
“How so?”
Riche smirked.
“You’d still be tending to patients, even while hiding.”
“……”
“As for me, I wouldn’t meet anyone except for a single bodyguard. You never know who might betray you.”
Laska stared at her blankly for a moment, then shut his mouth and let out a quiet chuckle.
“You’re right. That does sound like you. If I wanted to stay by your side, I’d have to become your bodyguard.”
“……”
“…But somehow, I doubt you’d choose me for that role.”
Riche let out a thoughtful hum and studied his arm with a contemplative gaze.
As a nobleman, Laska engaged in just enough exercise to maintain a well-balanced physique. His muscles were firm yet smooth, like hardened clay that had yet to lose its natural softness.
Seemingly self-conscious under her scrutiny, Laska kneaded his left arm with his right hand and glanced away.
Riche poked his arm with her index finger, then grinned.
“Soft.”
Laska’s face turned red—not with the flushed heat of a man lost in passion, but with the embarrassment of a young boy being teased by his first love.
She found it… endearing.
“Thank you for granting my request, Laska.”
She said his name with sincere appreciation, and Laska, looking dazed, hesitantly returned her smile.
Bringing her hand to his lips, he pressed gentle kisses to her knuckles and fingertips, murmuring,
“I’m simply happy to be able to do something for you.”
Riche, too, felt pleased.
Things are going smoothly.
Of all the noblemen she knew, Kairos would have been the most reliable choice—but he was off waging war in Evelyn. There was no one else to turn to.
She had asked Laska on a whim, without high expectations. Yet his response had been far more favorable than she anticipated.
For the first time, she felt as though her return home was within reach.
On impulse, she leaned in and kissed his forehead.
“Thank you again. I’ll be sure to repay you.”
Laska gently grasped her shoulders and pushed her back slightly.
“There’s no need for that between us.”
As he carefully returned her forehead kiss, Riche couldn’t shake a thought.
…Between us.
An intellectual partner—one who matched her both mentally and physically.
If that was all he meant, there was no issue.
But Laska wasn’t like most Alphas.
And that worried her.
If his feelings ever deepened beyond that…
That wouldn’t be ideal.
I have to return to my world, no matter what.
Whatever he felt for her, it wouldn’t last.
At least, she hoped it wouldn’t.
The thought lingered only briefly before she pushed it aside.
Richie’s mind was quickly filled with thoughts about the Magic Tower, the Magic Tower Pearl, and dimensional travel.
* * *
Once Laska’s knowledge was added to the secret clinical experiments and research that had been conducted alone in Queen, it was like a sailboat catching a strong tailwind. Riche quickly became well-versed in alpha-omega traits. Aside from a few special phenomena, she had reached a level where she knew most things. In fact, she likely knew more about them than congenital omegas who had been born as such.
But Riche was not happy. The wealth of knowledge she was gaining brought only brief moments of fulfillment and satisfaction.
What if this were her original dimension? She could have engaged in discussions with numerous scholars, organized her thoughts, and presented a refined hypothesis that would shake the world. She needed colleagues and an audience who would recognize the value of her research. Laska was there, but he was no more than a sip of water in the middle of a desert.
Riche felt dejected. She kept wondering—what was the point of all this? While she did enjoy the thrill of uncovering the unknown, what she truly longed for was to return and present her research findings.
After learning about the possibility of dimensional travel from Laska, her homesickness deepened.
These days, she was more focused on how to return to her original dimension rather than continuing her research. That was why, the moment she obtained an entry pass to the Mage Tower from Laska, she did not hesitate—she set off immediately.
The Mage Tower was located deep within a dense forest. It was a place difficult for ordinary people to access, but for mages and those seeking them out, its location posed no obstacle. Portals connected the tower to important places like the imperial palace, ensuring smooth interactions. In reality, the only ones trudging through the forest surrounding the tower were common folk desperate for a mage’s aid.
Riche, too, had to take the wooded path. Laska, who had provided her with the entry pass, did not have access to the palace’s portal either.
When she asked the coachman to take her as far into the forest as possible, he hesitated and shook his head. In the end, Riche had to get off the carriage and walk the rest of the way.
“Are you sure you can go alone?”
“Of course. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”
Laska had worried about whether she could handle the treacherous path alone until the very last moment. He was a smart man. If he knew what she was planning to do at the Mage Tower, his reaction would be unpredictable.
Laska was like a boy experiencing first love. No matter how kind and gentle he was, could he truly accept the fact that she came from another dimension? She’d be lucky if he didn’t dismiss her as a lunatic.
‘He might even try to ‘cure’ me with medicine.’
About halfway through the trek, her legs started to ache. Riche found a wide rock, sat down, and massaged her calves.
‘This is harder than I expected.’
Lifting her gaze, she saw the towering Mage Tower rising above the dense trees, exuding an eerie and divine presence. At her current pace, she estimated she would arrive just as the evening glow began to settle.
‘I have to meet the Tower Master today, no matter what…’
A person at the pinnacle of their field—someone not easily accessible just because she wished to see him. In fact, she wasn’t even sure if he was at the tower right now. Riche’s expression grew resolute. If she had to, she would keep searching until she met him.
She was intensely curious about the Tower Master. Just how far had his research progressed? The anticipation filled her mind to the brim.
After a brief rest, she hurried on, finally reaching the tower that evening. However, not only was she unable to meet the Tower Master—she wasn’t even allowed inside.
“What business do you have here?”
A passing mage, intrigued by her unfamiliar appearance, had questioned her. But the moment she mentioned wanting to meet the Tower Master, he refused to listen any further and threw her out.
She wasn’t even sure how she had been expelled. By the time she regained her senses, she was already outside the forest. It was as if she had been possessed by a ghost.
The next day, Riche took another hired carriage to the Mage’s Forest. Having made the journey once, she was now more familiar with the route and walked swiftly along the forest path. To reduce her burden, she carried only a small amount of money—just enough to cover the carriage fare.
Still, there was no way she could avoid taking another break along the way. Estimating the now-closer shape of the Mage Tower, Riche searched for a rock surrounded by dense trees. Sitting down, she pressed her fists into her swollen calves, massaging them to relieve the tension.
She was focused solely on loosening her legs when she suddenly tilted her head in confusion. Her ears perked up—something foreign had pierced through the usual sounds of the forest. As she concentrated on listening—
“Haaah!”
A strange, breathy moan reached her ears, sending a chill down her spine. She froze for a moment, then cautiously moved toward the source of the sound. As she stepped through the thick trees, a clearing appeared before her. Sunlight streamed down through the gaps in the canopy, bathing the open space in a golden glow.
Her view was partially blocked by a tangle of bushes. Carefully, she pushed the leaves aside with her arm. The sound became clearer.
“Haaah… Hah… Aaah! What do I do? What should I do!”
“…..”
“Ahh! It’s… it’s too much! Ahh, I’m going to die!”
A voice rang out, thick with desperation and ecstasy—words she hadn’t expected to hear in a place like this.
Riche was momentarily stunned. The breathtakingly beautiful and mystical sight of the forest glade clashed absurdly with the scene unfolding within it.
Perhaps thinking they were completely alone, the couple was anything but discreet—their cries were loud and intense. Given that few people ventured into this part of the woods, their carelessness wasn’t surprising.
Brushing aside her initial shock, Riche immediately felt exasperated. She shook her head.
The human desire for pleasure is truly absurd—completely unbothered by time or place.
Of the three basic human needs, wasn’t sexual desire the most relentless and consuming?
Her brief reflection ended there. She had no intention of lingering any longer. She had rested enough, and though her legs still ached slightly, she had no desire to remain here a moment more.
“If they couldn’t afford a room, they should’ve at least found a cave.”
Clicking her tongue in disapproval, Riche turned away and started walking. But after only a few steps, she stopped dead in her tracks. The ragged moans behind her wrapped around her ankles, refusing to let her go.
“Ahh! T-Tower Master! Ahhh! Please… stop…! I think I’m going to die, haaah!”
—Tower Master?
Her head snapped back toward the clearing.
Sex in the middle of a forest—unsanitary and inefficient. Under normal circumstances, she wouldn’t have paid it any attention.
Unless, of course, the man in question was the very person she had been so desperate to meet.
The idea that this was the Tower Master left her utterly speechless.
A wave of helplessness washed over Riche, but she forced herself to accept the situation.
“I don’t want to believe that the head of a massive institution like the Mage Tower would be having sex in a place like this… but just because someone holds a high position doesn’t mean they’re cultured.”
Hadn’t one of the pioneers of future engineering—the very mind behind dimensional travel technology—been infamous for hosting orgies? Even among those devoted to the pursuit of truth and knowledge, corruption was not uncommon.
Moving like a cat, Riche crept forward, weaving through the thick tree trunks. The sounds grew louder. Finally, she stopped behind a tree at least twice the width of her body, just on the edge of the clearing.
“Ahh… ha… huuhh…”
The voice, now weary, had softened into breathy whimpers. But the rhythmic thwack, thwack of flesh meeting flesh did not cease.
Riche leaned the back of her head against the tree, pausing for a moment before cautiously tilting her head to peek into the clearing. Slivers of sunlight wavered at her feet, filtering through the canopy above. She instinctively pulled her foot back.
A slender woman was kneeling on the soft grass, her body stretched forward. Behind her, a man moved his hips in a steady rhythm. He was still wearing his top, but his bottoms were pooled around his ankles, leaving his muscular, rounded backside completely exposed. The way it flexed and tensed with each motion made for an undeniably striking sight.
The pheromones of an aroused Alpha seeped into Riche’s nose—a distinct scent, sharp and briny, like the lingering tang of an ancient sea. It stung slightly as it filled her senses.
In contrast, the woman beneath him, despite her writhing moans and the wet, obscene sounds of their union, emitted no scent at all. She was a Beta.
The great and revered Tower Master, one of the most powerful figures among mankind, was mating like a beast on the forest floor—with a Beta woman.
Riche recalled something Laska had once mentioned about the Tower Master.
“He prefers Betas over Omegas. As you can guess from that preference, he’s… a bit unusual. Don’t make the mistake of judging him based on appearances alone. His age? You shouldn’t trust how he looks either. Even I don’t know his exact age.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“He was already the Tower Master before my healing abilities awakened, and he still looks exactly the same now. Even when my father was my age, it was the same.”
“How is that possible? Is he not human?”
“Haha, of course not. It’s simply a side effect of a magic he used in his youth—his physical aging stopped. He’s likely lived for over a century. It’s best not to be too submissive around him. If you act overly polite, he’ll just ignore you. Wizards are naturally eccentric, after all.”
Even from these fragmented details, it was clear that the man was an unusual character. If she were to pick out key traits—
“Old man, peculiar sexual preferences, attention-seeker, defiant, thrill-seeker.”
As she watched the nearing conclusion of his carnal act, she added one more:
“Sexual deviant.”
Or, in simpler terms—a pervert.
