Cairos’s brow furrowed slightly. He wasn’t very happy with Duke Ristaeuph’s interest in him.

He had heard that he had a daughter he had late in life. Was it that he would get the strongest man in the empire as his son-in-law?

When he heard those words, Cairos had laughed, thinking that only a Duke could say such things, but he couldn’t laugh like that now.

The Duke, shining his eyes with a blue light, was holding Cairos back, unlike his usual nature. Cairos felt a sticky, spiderweb-like feeling in his gaze.

“Yes. His Highness said that you have no thoughts of marriage, General.”

Thankfully, true to his personality of disliking hesitation, he gets straight to the point. Cairos preferred this as well. He didn’t want to have conversations about the political situation of the continent or which armies and mercenary groups were particularly outstanding before getting to the main point.

No, at any other time, he wouldn’t have minded talking about the prestigious Grand Duke, power, and swords. He found those topics interesting.

But not now. Cairos was most curious about whether Riche, who had been laid down in the treatment room, had recovered. True to his reputation as having an ebony-like, unyielding personality, Cairos replied without beating around the bush.

“No.”

“Huh? What do you mean, no?”

“I do have thoughts of marriage, Grand Duke.”

Ristaeuph’s wrinkled eyes tightened slightly at the calm reply. Then, the tension drained away.

“Judging by your words, it seems you have someone in mind.”

Cairos didn’t deny it.

“So, I was trying to hold onto someone whose heart was elsewhere.”

The Grand Duke smoothed his shoulder with his wrinkled but shield-like large hand. He didn’t seem particularly displeased, and Cairos was relieved by his magnanimous demeanor.

“Even if a marriage is not to be, I would like to become a friend with whom the General can share a drink. Would you grant this old man that honor?”

Still seemingly regretful, he invited Cairos to his castle, and Cairos nodded. He seemed to be planning to make him become close with the Archduchess by calling him to the castle, but he didn’t feel the need to refuse even this.

“To be the friend of the Grand Duke, whose achievements are beyond measure, is an honor for me.”

The Grand Duke nodded contentedly, seemingly pleased with the words.

“Indeed. You seem to have been preoccupied since earlier, so you may leave now.”

“I will visit you again for a friendly spar.”

Cairos bowed respectfully and stood up without delay.

If the late Count and Countess Strigo had heard today’s conversation, they would have been very disappointed. The Strigo family was strong enough not to rely on other families, but even so, forming a connection with the Ristaeuph family would be akin to taking a leap forward.

A typical imperial family would have opposed the union of the two families. However, the current Emperor and the Crown Prince, who would soon become Emperor, were not petty men who clung to small things, and the Strigo and Ristaeuph families were not of a nature to threaten the imperial family, so such a union was possible.

The union of the two loyal retainers of the imperial family and influential families would have attracted as much attention as a state wedding.

Cairos, as the head of a family, knew what was best for his family. But his heart could not allow him to ask Riche to become a consort for the sake of the family.

He didn’t want to keep her as a consort. He didn’t want to have a guilty conscience. He would keep her by his side proudly. That feeling and determination occupied him so naturally that Cairos quickened his pace.

Logically, nothing could happen to her in the imperial palace’s treatment room. The healers of the imperial palace were directly taught by the Medichina healers, and only the Medichina bloodline could fix what they couldn’t. Nevertheless, Cairos couldn’t shake off his anxiety.

Having wandered battlefields and ignored most wounds without even applying Medichina, the delicate Riche, who nestled in his arms, seemed so fragile like a small bird. He was so worried that even the conversation with Grand Duke Ristaeuph felt like a waste of time.

‘Riche.’

When did his feelings for her grow so much? Just calling her name in his mind made his heart ache, and Cairos, forgetting all decorum, practically ran towards the treatment room.

Riche scratched her throat with her fingernails, burning with thirst. The heat rising from deep within her body parched her throat and skin. Feeling like a cactus born in the desert, she licked her dry lips. Even her tongue was dry and rough from the intense heat, causing pain when it touched her chapped lips. Riche, who had been clutching the sheets, couldn’t bear the burning sensation on her skin and let go.

The symptoms of her heat were beyond imagination, and even getting worse.

Now, even the slightest touch on her skin sent shivers down her spine. Even the clothes she was wearing felt irritating. Every time the fabric brushed against her skin, the opening between her legs gushed out a sticky fluid. Images of being penetrated countless times replayed in her mind.

For the first time, Riche couldn’t vouch for her reason, which had been heavily armed. It felt as if all the defenses outside her body, which had been wrapped around her like armor, were being dismantled all at once, or were in the process of being dismantled.

“Water…”

Her cracked voice flowed like smoke into the parched air. She wanted to drink water. Even a touch of fabric made the hairs on her body stand on end, but she felt it would be better to be in water. First, she needed to moisten her parched throat, which was cracking like dry rice paddies.

Riche looked around with her feverish eyes. Why was no one in sight? The healer who was supposed to bring Cairos was nowhere to be seen.

Riche was puzzled. Were there no alpha-omega healers here? With pheromones as concentrated as this, any alpha would have been drawn in long ago.

In any case, it was fortunate for Riche. No, her reason was relieved, but her instincts were howling in disappointment. Why didn’t someone appear quickly and devour this tempting body?

‘I’m crazy.’

Riche bit her lip and stood up. Her eyes were fixed on the water bottle on the desk in the middle of the treatment room. Each step was agonizingly slow. It was because she was soothing her trembling legs and moving as if erecting pillars on the floor. After much difficulty, Riche reached the water bottle, quickly reached out, snatched it, and tilted the bottle towards her face.

The water filled in the bottle fell over her face. It was lukewarm, but the sensation on her skin was cool. Even that soon turned hot. Riche poured a large amount of water into her mouth and poured the remaining water all over her face. The creepy sensation of ants biting her seemed to subside somewhat.

The moment she took a deep breath, her whole body itched. Riche’s face contorted. The effect of the water was very brief. She wrapped her arms around her shoulders. Her trembling legs finally gave way. Riche slumped down and bowed her head.

Cairos, Cairos, Cairos.

She constantly called out the name of the person who could resolve this situation in her mind. Her skirt was cumbersome. Her underwear was already wet, so the sticky sensation felt unpleasant. Riche impatiently tore at her skirt. Just as her fingertips touched her underwear, her hand stopped.

Thump.

Her heart dropped.

A sweet, unbearably sweet scent filled the air. The thirst that had been tormenting her until now, in other words, the frustration, was relieved all at once, or seemed to be raging even more fiercely.

Sniff, sniff. Riche twitched her nose, but there was no need. Already her whole body, her skin, her senses, were detecting the alpha pheromones that were approaching. Like an ant waving its antennae. The corners of Riche’s lips turned up in joy.

‘Cairos!’

But the joy was fleeting. Riche, who had been taking deep breaths, tilted her head. Her feverish face hardened.

This smell, this feeling…?

Click.

At the sound of the door opening, Riche’s head turned like an automatic door.

The man’s face was not clearly visible due to the backlight from the sunlight coming through the window. However, perhaps because the door opened, or because of some other harmony, the pheromones that had been faintly felt poured in like a waterfall. Riche’s lips gaped like a goldfish. The opening between her legs also gaped.

Irresistible alpha pheromones.

She knew it instinctively. Riche sounded the alarm in her head.

‘No.’

She tried to step back, but in reality, she didn’t move at all. Rather, her body, as if wanting to get closer, leaned forward, twitching. Her trembling lips pleaded weakly and desperately.

“No…”

‘No!’

But the words that came out of her mouth were completely different from what she was thinking.

“Hold me.”

“…”

“Please…”

Muttering desperately, Riche looked up. His face was not clearly visible because he was too tall.

At that moment, the sun tilted slightly. The face that had been in the backlight came into Riche’s view accurately.

“Ah…”

Riche let out a sigh that she couldn’t understand.

Crown Prince. Yante M. Luseino was looking down at her. To Riche, it looked like the god of hell was looking down.

His handsome lips, carved like jade, stretched wide to the side. A strange voice, slightly excited as if he couldn’t believe it, escaped.

“Hajin?”

Riche, as she was called in that dimension, gasped for breath.

‘No.’

The words of denial crumbled like sand in the face of the insanely attractive alpha pheromones. It was as if the opening that desired an alpha, the omega’s body, was desperately erasing the thought that she didn’t want this man.

Desperate, yet her heart swelled with anticipation.
