To You Who Will Destroy Me - Chapter 128
“Yeah, I hit you,” Bubble declared confidently.
“My powers don’t affect you, but my fists sure do.” She snickered, and before Ramon could fully stand, she spun with a swift kick, her foot smashing into his jaw. The force of the blow sent him sprawling backward again.
“Guh…!!”
As in most games, it’s a well-known rule that priests are weak in physical combat. Ramon, despite his schemes and arrogance, was no match for Bubble’s raw strength. She made quick work of him, pummeling him mercilessly until he was unconscious, ensuring he wouldn’t escape.
“Are you okay, pretty?” Bubble asked as she extended a hand to Irel. Grateful for her rescue, Irel gladly took it.
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. After all, you helped me once too, remember?” Bubble’s hand was delicate, yet her grip was surprisingly strong. With one hand, she effortlessly lifted Irel to her feet, though the pull was so forceful that Irel almost stumbled forward.
“Oops! Careful!” Bubble caught her just in time, essentially pulling Irel into a close embrace. For a moment, their eyes met as they stood there, bodies pressed together.
Their arms entwined, their bodies close, and as their eyes locked, something stirred.
Thud-thud—
For a split second, it felt as though a bluebird had fluttered its wings inside Irel’s chest. Could this be… love?
‘…No way.’ Irel furrowed her brows and quickly pulled away, pressing her hand against her chest to still the strange pulsing sensation. The Heart of Avihushan was reacting again.
‘Why now? What’s causing it to go wild?’
But to her surprise, Bubble seemed to notice the same thing.
“Oh?” Bubble’s eyes widened, sparkling with recognition, and then she broke into a wide grin.
“Wow! So you found it after all? I knew you’d pull it off!” she cheered, looking at Irel as if she had just solved some grand mystery.
“Huh? What are you talking about?” Irel stammered, baffled by the sudden outburst. But before she could process her confusion, Bubble continued, still giddy with excitement.
“You did it—found the hidden legacy! Hmm… I suppose I’ll have to reward you for such a great job.”
Bubble seemed to dive into her own thoughts, contemplating for a moment before clapping her hands decisively.
“Alright! I’ve got it! I’ll give you the Blessing of Blood.”
“What’s that now?”
“Oh, it’s really good! But here’s the thing—you can’t let anyone know I gave it to you. It’s a secret, okay? Especially since it’s forbidden to grant it to non-family members.”
“There are three other people here who just heard you,” Irel pointed out, glancing at Jin, who looked pale as a ghost.
“Oh, that doesn’t matter,” Bubble replied with a carefree laugh. “I can just kill them all, problem solved.”
Yup, in some ways, Bubble reminded Irel a little too much of Varkan. It was oddly amusing how two beings from opposite sides of the Masaka and Vlad spectrum could share such a cavalier attitude toward life and death—if only they weren’t constantly threatening lives.
“If possible, could you spare my bodyguard? I promise to keep him quiet,” Irel said, nodding towards Jin, whose expression had gone from pale to terrified.
Bubble giggled as if Irel had made a delightful joke. “Oh, you silly! How could I ever hurt your people? We’re practically sisters!”
Sisters? Irel thought, perplexed by the strange connection Bubble seemed to believe existed between them. She wanted to protest, to ask for an explanation, but before she could, Bubble leaned in with a mischievous smile.
“Now… open your mouth.”
“Why are your eyes so wide?” Irel tried to step back, sensing something off, but Bubble was quicker.
Crunch—
Bubble brought her thumb to her mouth, biting down hard enough to draw blood. In a flash, she shoved her bleeding thumb into Irel’s mouth.
“Mmmpf!”
Irel’s eyes widened in shock as Bubble’s cold, iron-tasting blood filled her mouth. The sharp, bitter taste made her stomach churn, and she gagged, her face contorting in disgust. She instinctively tried to spit it out, but Bubble quickly pressed her hand over Irel’s mouth.
“Good girl. You can’t spit it out.”
Are you insane?! Irel’s wide eyes and muffled protests clearly expressed her disbelief. She wasn’t a Vlad—humans didn’t drink blood! Her body rebelled at the thought, and she struggled to free herself. But Bubble, seeing her resistance, sighed in mild exasperation.
―Swallow.
Seriously?! You’re using commands now?! Irel trembled with frustration, but her body obeyed. Her throat convulsed as she unwillingly swallowed the blood.
Cough, cough!
Bubble finally released her, and Irel stumbled back, wiping her mouth furiously. She bent over, trying to vomit, but before she could, a system message flashed before her eyes.
[Ding! You have obtained the special ability ‘Blessing of Blood.’ As you have shared blood with a Vlad, you are now considered a sister. From now on, Kitan will not attack you. This effect is permanent.]
…Wait. So this wasn’t just some insane prank—it actually had a purpose?
Irel blinked, still teary-eyed, as she processed the message. Immunity from Kitan attacks was a huge benefit in this world. Her nausea quickly faded in the face of such an incredible advantage.
And that wasn’t the end.
[Ding! You have met the Seer and received your reward. The hidden quest ‘Following the Footsteps of Moonlight’ is now complete.]
“The Seer? Are you…?”
Irel mumbled in astonishment. She glanced over at Bubble, who had clearly heard the same message and was now grinning knowingly.
“Oh, did you figure it out? I did mention before that I’ve lived a long time and gone by many names, didn’t I?” Bubble said with a playful wink.
“You did say that, but I never imagined…,” Irel trailed off, still stunned.
“That’s right. ‘The Seer’ is just one of my many titles,” Bubble confirmed cheerfully.
Oh my god. The Seer fed me blood! Irel’s mind raced. What kind of convoluted plot was this game weaving? And where exactly did she fit into the grand scheme of things?
Finally realizing Bubble’s true identity, Irel was left reeling from the shock. It all made sense now—how Bubble had known from the start that Irel was from another world, and why everything had felt so off-kilter from the moment they met.
“I don’t understand, Bubble. Why did you bring me here?” Irel hesitated, her voice uncertain. She glanced around at Ramon, Drakal, and Jin, who were all still there, watching. The presence of so many ears made her wary of asking too much.
“Oh, them? Don’t worry about it. I’ll take care of them,” Bubble said, reading Irel’s mind. She patted her chest confidently, and after seeing how she had easily subdued three men with a mix of commands and bRuth strength, Irel found herself inclined to believe her.
Bubble had already neutralized any threat.
“Then let me ask you this: Did you bring me here just to show me Paulo Christopher’s mural? What does it all mean? And why do you keep talking about us being sisters and having the same mother?” Irel asked in a low voice, wary of those around them.
Bubble licked her small, sharp fangs, clearly amused by the question. “Hmm… where should I even start?” She looked around the cave before a mischievous expression crossed her face.
“It’s a good thing I came here! I knew this would be fun, but you’ve exceeded my expectations.” She laughed gleefully, glancing between Ramon’s unconscious body and Irel, her gaze filled with meaning.
“Isn’t it just too fitting? One of you has the heart, and the other has the breath.”
“…Did you just say breath?” Irel’s ears perked up at the unexpected word.
“Yes, breath.”
As Bubble passed by Irel, she bent down and rummaged through Ramon’s clothes. She quickly pulled out something wrapped in purple silk, carefully concealed within his robes. The object was roughly the size of an adult’s fist, its round shape scarcely visible through the many layers of fabric.
‘Is that really… the Breath?’ Irel thought, stunned. Why does he have it? Surely Varkan’s people had been keeping an eye on Huon and watching Ramon. How on earth did they manage to pass “the Breath” to the archbishop without anyone noticing?
Irel was overwhelmed by disbelief. Bubble, however, seemed completely nonchalant as she tucked the item into her own clothes.
“That’s why my command didn’t work on him. How interesting.”
Apparently, the Breath had the ability to neutralize Vlad powers. Irel’s curiosity flared, desperate to learn more about the object. But seeing as Bubble had already taken it, she realized she had nothing to lose by asking.
“Um… are you going to keep that?”
“Yup. Why? Did you want it?” Bubble teased.
“I… think I might need it. Could you give it to me?”
For a moment, it felt like they were talking about something as trivial as toilet paper. But just as Irel thought Bubble might actually hand it over, her expression shifted.
“Sorry, but no.”
“Why not?” Irel asked, disappointed.
“Because you don’t even know what it is,” Bubble replied with a smirk.
“I’m sure I can figure it out if you explain it to me,” Irel said, unwilling to give up. She had come all the way to Al Ros Condes in search of this item, and now she couldn’t let it slip through her fingers.
Sure, she could run back to Varkan and try to explain the situation, but there was no guarantee Bubble would still be around by the time they could catch up with her. If a Vlad like her decided to disappear, finding her would be nearly impossible.
“Typical youngest sibling, always so greedy,” Bubble chuckled, playfully poking Irel’s chest near the pocket where the Heart of Avihushan rested.
“But still, I’m impressed you managed to find the complete heart. Just like I predicted.”
“You predicted this too? You?” Irel asked, incredulous. Bubble’s reaction, however, was to let out a laugh that sounded like a bubble popping.
“Did you know? This world originally only had half of the heart,” Bubble said with a playful smile.
What’s she talking about now? Irel thought, her disbelief growing. She knew for a fact there were two halves of the heart. But Bubble seemed to sense Irel’s skepticism and laughed again.
“It’s true! Our family searched for it for nearly a thousand years. We scoured every continent and explored every ocean.”
Then what’s this I have? Irel thought, gently touching the heart in her pocket.
“Oh, I should be asking you that. Where did you find the other half?” Bubble’s voice, which had been light and cheerful, turned cold as she stared at Irel.
“Where did I find it? Well, I…,”
Irel hesitated. Should she tell the truth? That it had suddenly appeared as a quest reward? That it had practically fallen into her hands? The absurdity of it all made her hesitate.
“As I thought,” Bubble said, shrugging her shoulders. “You never really found it. You’ve had it with you all along.”
Irel blinked, confused. “What do you mean?”
“It was never possible to find the other half,” Bubble explained with an air of certainty. “Because you already had it from the beginning.”
